Role: Data Center Technician
Location: Fayetteville, GA (fully onsite)
Type: 6-8 week contract + extension
We are seeking highly motivated and detail-oriented Data Center Technicians to join our rapidly expanding team. This role will be responsible for running network and power cables, building and installing server racks, and maintaining overall data center efficiency. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience in a data center environment and a strong understanding of best practices for cabling and server deployment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Cable Management:
- Install, route, and terminate network and power cables (fiber optic, copper, etc.) within the data center.
- Organize and label cabling according to industry standards to ensure proper cable management.
- Perform regular inspections of cables to detect and fix issues such as disconnection or wear and tear.
- Server Rack Building:
- Build and install server racks, including mounting servers, network switches, and power distribution units (PDUs).
- Ensure proper placement and balance of equipment within racks for cooling and power efficiency.
- Assist in provisioning and decommissioning hardware as necessary.
- Data Center Environment:
- Monitor environmental conditions such as temperature and humidity to ensure optimal equipment performance.
- Assist in maintaining data center cleanliness and organization.
- Adhere to safety guidelines and protocols during all activities within the data center.
- Collaboration & Documentation:
- Work closely with our vendor team to drive collaboration and complete work together
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation for cabling layouts, server configurations, and inventory.
- Participate in project planning and execution for data center build-outs and expansions.
Preferred Experience:
- 1-3 years of experience working in a data center environment or similar technical role.
- Hands-on experience with network cabling, server rack installation, and data center hardware.
Skills:
- Knowledge of fiber optic and copper cabling standards and best practices.
- Ability to use tools such as cable testers, crimpers, and punch-down tools.
- Basic understanding of networking concepts (IP addressing, switches, routers).
- Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to lift and move heavy equipment (50+ lbs) regularly.
Education & Certifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent; technical certifications (e.g., CompTIA Network+, BICSI) preferred.
- Knowledge of **EIA/TIA standards** for structured cabling is a plus.
Work Environment:
- Must be comfortable working in a physically demanding environment with exposure to hot and cold areas.
- Must be able to work on ladders and in confined spaces as necessary.
- Must have reliable transportation – position is located in Quincy, WA- travel accommodations can be reimbursed for candidates requiring to travel into Quincy weekly*
